Ecole Internationale de Genève
Many thanks to Mr Michael Rowe, Mrs Michaelene Stack and Mrs Fabienne Badibanga at the Ecole Internationale de Genève, Switzerland, for their concerted cooperation in assisting the Barry Kay Archive.
Mr Rowe, archivist and teacher, extensively researched the School's archive and confirmed our long-time guess that, in the late 1930s, Barry Kay did indeed attend this School, where he received his initial education. In being able to also establish the dates and thus the duration of Kay's attendance, Mr Rowe's overall findings prove to be invaluable in that they are placing other events in Kay's early life into perspective and in their chronological order. As a result the Biography about Barry Kay, covering the years from 1932 to 1955, could be expanded significantly. - Mrs Stack, Director of Development, was most obliging in granting us the permission to publish generously provided photographs of the School, which Mrs Badibanga, Alumni Secretary, helped select and collate.

Omnes Alphabetical Index, an index of Detailed Performance Data. - A number of Barry Kay's stage and costume designs, including models, are held at the Royal Opera House Collections.

Frank van Straten OAM
The Barry Kay Archive is immensely indebted to Frank van Straten, performing arts historian and founding director of the Performing Arts Museum at the Victoria Arts Centre, Melbourne, who came to our rescue at a crucial time, following the recent death of the Archive's greatest mentor, the impresario Clifford Hocking AM. Frank generously imparted production data relating to Barry Kay's early theatre design work, something Clifford was in the process of doing. As a result the Biography page, covering the years from 1932 to 1955, has shaped up considerably.

Clifford Hocking MA
The Australian impresario Clifford Hocking died in June 2006. He was a close friend to Barry Kay for well over thirty years, the days when the latter made his début as a theatre designer in Melbourne. Ever since its inception in 1985, Clifford's avid support of the Barry Kay Archive was unparalleled. The interest he showed and his engagement in the many discussions we had about how best to preserve and present Kay's work equalled the inspiration he brought to his clientele as well as to his artistic direction of the 1990 Adelaide Festival and the 1997 Melbourne International Festival of the Arts. Without Clifford's ceaseless encouragement the Barry Kay Archive would not be what it is today.

We are most grateful to Kenneth Park, Curator of Collections, and Margot Vaughan, Associate Curator, both at

Ever since the Barry Kay Archive joined SIBMAS as an institutional member in the autumn of 2004, Paul has taken a continuing interest in our work.
